Christian Science has been in our home since I was a little girl. A neighbor invited my sister and me to go with her to a Christian Science Sunday School. We did, and we loved it so much that we attended until we reached the age of twenty. Because this one let her light shine forth, our entire family eventually became students of Science.

A healing which I had when about eight years old led us all to become more earnest students. The day after school had closed for the summer, I became quite ill with a throat difficulty. I do not know what the condition might have been called, for we relied entirely on Science, and no diagnosis was ever made. A practitioner was called, who helped me through prayer. At one time it was thought that I was passing on, but the steadfast prayers of both my mother and the practitioner brought a quick recovery.

After this healing took place, I was confronted with two aftereffects. I was unable to speak plainly, and a little later, when this was corrected through prayer, I found I was unable to read. Although I could not see to read, I was once again able to attend Sunday School. There I learned more and more of God and His reflection, man. All during this experience I had often repeated the many passages I had learned in Sunday School from the Bible and from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy.
