I have much to be grateful for...

I have much to be grateful for as a result of studying Christian Science, but I think I am most thankful for becoming willing to let God guide me. Heretofore I had expressed much self-will and determination to bring about what I thought was best. I should like to relate the following experience which resulted from study to overcome this trait.

The idea of going to Japan had been presented to me; but since it seemed financially impossible, I gave it little thought. Also the idea of teaching overseas was presented, and I sent for particulars; but since the time for personal interviews was some months in advance, I put the material away and thought no more about it.

Months later, as I was studying the Bible Lesson, outlined in the Quarterly, the thought came: "What are you waiting for? Now is the time." It came so clearly and forcefully that I immediately went to my desk, got out the information and found that this was the very day on which the interviews for overseas teaching were to be held. I went to the telephone to call for an appointment but was told that all the appointments had been filled weeks ago. The idea seemed so right, however, that I called again in the afternoon and was given a time for an interview a few days later.
