When Christian Science was...
When Christian Science was first presented to me, I was working for a family in Arizona. The mother of this family was a Christian Scientist. I noticed she was quite different from the people I had worked for before.
One morning I went to work feeling almost too ill to work; after about midmorning I decided to go home. But the weather was very warm, and my employer insisted that I remain there until the time I was accustomed to finish work each day, because I usually got a ride home then. Finally I agreed, and at her request I went into a bedroom and relaxed.
After a short while I suddenly felt well. My employer had not given me a Christian Science treatment, because I had not asked for one; but she had prayed to clear from her own consciousness any suggestion of the reality of sickness, and this impersonal prayer had healed me.
