Sustained Spiritual Inspiration
"Complete and perfect obedience...is...indispensable...
to the individualizing of infinite power"
How often we wish that we might better retain those moments of great spiritual inspiration which come frequently to Christian Scientists! A glimpse of the true meaning of a Bible passage or of a statement from the writings of Mary Baker Eddy, the beloved Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, comes with such distinct clarity that everything around us seems bathed in spiritual light. But later, the light may seem to become somewhat dimmed. We wonder why. We realize that our work in Christian Science could have been more effective if those moments had been sustained. Jesus was able to sustain and maintain those moments of great inspiration; so was Mrs. Eddy; and so are we.
