A College Student Writes

Christian Science and the College Campus

Christian Science teaches that man is in every respect the image of God. Thus he is upright and pure, lacking nothing because God lacks nothing. In the twenty-sixth and twenty-seventh verses of the first chapter of Genesis we read: "God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness....So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them."

Man, God's reflection, expresses intelligence, creativeness, grace, accuracy, strength, vision, coordination, endurance, and every other Godlike quality. The college student has a wonderful opportunity to demonstrate these qualities and thus build a strong foundation for a successful and happy life. Beliefs of worldliness should be mastered at their very inception.

One of the first worldly beliefs to be met is the sense of lack of time, sometimes referred to as pressure. No one ever needs to be under a sense of pressure. Principle is governing the universe, and as this truth is brought to bear upon any situation order is manifested; and all sense of personal burden can be dropped. There is no reason for submission to mesmeric influences of fear when the understanding of God's power can relieve us of all false responsibility. The belief of lack, whether it be that of time, intelligence, supply, ability, happiness, or anything else, can be healed just as effectively as any other disease.
