Wise Selection of Information
At a time when a community was suffering from fear of polio and the newspapers and news broadcasts were filled with reports of each new case, a four-year-old girl manifested the publicized symptoms of this disease. Christian Science treatment was begun within the home immediately.
The child did not want to be touched or fed. She wanted her mother to read aloud to her from the Christian Science textbook by Mrs. Eddy. The child's attention never wandered. Factual information about her true selfhood was replacing the erroneous information which had unwittingly been accepted.
At the end of twenty-four hours her mother telephoned a Christian Science practitioner and asked for help. She heard this spiritually-minded worker reassure her of the wholeness and safety of the child because God was her creator and His omnipotent law of love governed her. Immediately upon returning to the child's room, her mother found the child completely and permanently healed. There was no period of convalescence.
