Throughout the many years of...
Throughout the many years of my membership in a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, I have experienced numerous healings and blessings through the application of the teachings of Christian Science, and I should like to tell here of one healing in particular which took place sometime ago.
One day while I was at work, my eyes began to swell. When I arrived home in the evening, I could hardly see, and my hearing too caused me difficulty. I was unable to read; so I turned my thinking primarily to "the scientific statement of being," given on page 468 of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. The statement ends: "Spirit is God, and man is His image and likeness. Therefore man is not material; her is spiritual." I felt no pain and went to sleep.
Early next morning I was unable to open my eyes. My entire face was swollen. I sat down, covered my face with a cloth, and recalled quotations from the textbook, particularly the one already referred to, "the scientific statement of being," as well as familiar hymns from the Christian Science Hymnal. I spent half a day in this way.
