Repelling Aggressive Mental Suggestion
[Of Special Interest to Young Men and Women]
One of the challenging experiences facing a young person today is that of military training. Christian Science shows how each sincere student can meet and master this challenge by spiritually fortifying his thoughts and actively repelling aggressive mental suggestion.
The Apostle Paul wrote: "(. . . The weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ" (II Cor. 10:4, 5). Each conscientious student of Christian Science is daily using his store of spiritual weapons to bring "every thought to the obedience of Christ." This warfare is one of freedom and joy. Each one is on the winning side because omnipotence is the source and power of this activity.
Mrs. Eddy says in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 118), "Be of good cheer; the warfare with one's self is grand; it gives one plenty of employment, and the divine Principle worketh with you,—and obedience crowns persistent effort with everlasting victory."
