How to Avoid Confusion
In the midst of major social readjustments emotions and prejudices are apt to warp sound judgment. Some people may seem to experience difficulty in maintaining their mental equilibrium and find themselves assuming qualities of doubt, uncertainty, indecisiveness. At such a time one should watch his thought that he does not allow himself to be subjected to confusion.
Confusion not only deprives one of the ability to act wisely, but often fosters unwarranted utterances, bringing out the worst rather than the best in individuals. Christian Science teaches that there is no better or surer way to avoid confusion than to trust God's ability to bring forth a right solution to any problem.
This does not mean withdrawing from the arena and leaving the responsibilities to others. It means looking to the divine Mind for a right sense of values in which ideals are accorded their right place in our considerations. For when our thoughts reach out to God for guidance, we prepare ourselves to bring our practices into closer alignment with our professed ideals, and the social fiber is strengthened.
