"Let us pray that ... we may recognize the good which is being bestowed upon us every moment of every day"
The Bible relates several instances of people's failing to see or recognize something even though they were looking at it with the human organ of sight—the eyes. Hagar, wandering in the wilderness of Beer-sheba with her son, Ishmael, thought that the lad must inevitably die of thirst; yet when God opened her eyes, she saw a well from which she was able to draw water.
