I am grateful to Christian Science...

I am grateful to Christian Science because it gives us wisdom. It unfolds God's law to one's thought and heart in such a way as to make this law practical in daily life with the result that good and harmonious results appear.

Although I had lost my early faith, I attended a Protestant church, believing that the church helped to uphold the morality of the community. After my children were born I had a great desire to have wisdom. Was there a God? Did God have a plan or destiny for man? What was man's part in this plan? I studied philosophy, and this led to theology and psychology.

After ten years I found Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy in a friend's library and asked to borrow it. I soon saw that this textbook taught more of God on one page than any other book I had ever read. I began to put into practice what I read. Nervous tension gave way to quietness and peace. Fear of traffic gave place to a sense of safety and to safe driving and traveling experiences. Backaches, sore throats, and sinus trouble disappeared, as did criticism of and irritation at others.
