For a number of years I was...
For a number of years I was bothered by a condition of congestion in the lungs every winter. At times it was extremely difficult to breathe without pain or discomfort.
Through help from a Christian Science practitioner, and my own study, I always received relief, but the condition kept returning. For some time damp or windy weather brought it on, but I studied Mary Baker Eddy's account in the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," of the healing of the woman ill with consumption who suffered whenever the wind was from the east.
After the woman's breathing had become normal, Mrs. Eddy asked her to look at the weather vane. It pointed east. Mrs. Eddy writes (pp. 184, 185), "The wind had not changed, but her thought of it had and so her difficulty in breathing had gone." The fear of damp and wind and their effects was overcome in my thinking and no longer had the power to produce adverse physical results.
