A College Student Writes

Opening the Door to Opportunity

Opportunity is knocking. Has each of us answered the door? As college students we have, right now, one of the greatest opportunities of a lifetime to put our religion, Christian Science, into practice on the campus.

Think for a moment what a wonderful experience college would be for one who enjoyed all his studies, who looked forward to learning more, and whose grades showed that he was really learning. Wouldn't it be fine never to be plagued with a feeling of loneliness or of being burdened, but to take part freely in desired social and academic activities and to be on friendly terms with all fellow students and professors? Perhaps this sounds like a student's paradise, but the power to bring this complete harmony and happiness to our college experience is available to each of us right now.

Christ Jesus showed that the greatest of hardships, burdens, loneliness, and inharmonious human relations could be changed to exactly the opposite—freedom, companionship, joy, and harmony. He showed us that by filling our consciousness with Godlike thoughts, such as purity, brotherly love, and understanding, we align ourselves with the truth of man and his surroundings, and the result is an expression of the real man and his actions in our experience.
