I am very grateful for the sustaining...

I am very grateful for the sustaining and healing power of God and especially for His love and protection during World War II. I was able to withstand the rigorous campaign in the South Pacific, where I served in a Seabee battalion for almost three years, missing only one day of duty.

I should also like to tell of a healing I experienced about nine years ago. When cutting my hair one day, my barber informed me that there was a place on the side of my head where my hair had fallen out and that this was caused by a diseased condition of the scalp, which would result in the loss of most of my hair. He said that if the hair did grow back, it would be white instead of the natural color. The barber recommended that I see my doctor at once to find out what could be done to cure the condition. I assured him that I would immediately do something about it.

When I arrived home a few minutes later, I called a Christian Science practitioner. I explained my problem to her, and she very kindly told me that she felt that I was capable of doing my own work in regard to this condition; but she asked me to come to visit her the next evening. We talked for an hour or more of the allness of God and of man as His perfect spiritual idea, without spot or blemish.
