When Christ Jesus was sent to Pontius Pilate for judgment, the Roman procurator told the Jews he could find no fault in him. The accusers, seeking to destroy the Master, then answered (John 19:7), "We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God."
