Goliath's Forty Days
"Whether the testing period is forty days or forty minutes, intelligent persistence is requisite"
The Scriptural selection at a Wednesday evening testimony meeting in a Church of Christ, Scientist, included the familiar story of David and Goliath. I had heard and read this narrative many times. This evening, however, one statement which I had not noticed before stood out sharply. It was this verse (I Sam. 17:16): "And the Philistine drew near morning and evening, and presented himself forty days."
