"Come out of him"

Some time ago I took a picture of my daughter. The lighting was just right, the pose was just right, there was a beautiful smile on my daughter's face, but when the film was developed there seemed to lie a lamp shade resting on her head like an oversized hat. I had seen clearly what I wanted to have in the picture, but I had failed to see and to remove something that did not belong in it.

Christian Science teaches that man is the perfect reflection of divine Mind, God. When we behold an individual in his reflected perfection, the truth we behold is the likeness of God, divine Life and Love, and this truth has the power to destroy error. Understanding this we may discern sickness and false thought as errors which do not belong in the true concept of an individual, and with God's power we can remove them.

Christ Jesus used this method of healing. In one instance he healed a disease referred to as an unclean spirit. In Mark (1:25, 26) we read: "And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the unclean spirit had torn him, and cried with a loud voice, he came out of him."
