When Christian Science treatment...

When Christian Science treatment was recommended to me, I was returning home from a consultation with a well-known surgeon, one of seven physicians I had consulted over a period of a year. They all agreed that I needed an operation for the removal of certain organs.

A sincere student of Christian Science spoke to me of its healing efficacy, and she recommended that I not have the operation until I had looked into this religion. Within a half hour of our conversation I decided to see a Christian Science practitioner before I made my decision to have surgery.

She lent me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy and recommended that I read the first chapter, entitled "Prayer." I opened the book and read in the Preface (p vii), "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, today is big with blessings." What a beautiful revelation! It seemed as though a whole new world had opened up before me. I had never read anything like this before.
