About two years ago I was accosted by two youths who hit me with a bottle first on the right side of my forehead and then on my left check, lacerating it just below my left eye.
My first reaction was one of tremendous anger; but as I began to walk back to my room I realized that I must raise my thinking to divine Mind and demonstrate the truth that man is really the perfect reflection of God. I prayed to know that man is "the compound idea of infinite Spirit; the spiritual image and likeness of God; the full representation of Mind," as Mrs. Eddy defines him in the textbook (p. 591).
Before I arrived at my room I stopped at a gas station to wash my face. I found that it had been badly cut in three different places, and the picture was quite terrifying. The suggestion that my face would be permanently scarred came to me, but I immediately and vigorously rejected it.
