In my experience there have been many proofs of the truth of Mrs. Eddy's statement on page vii of the Preface of the Christian Science textbook that "to those leaning on the sustaining infinite, today is big with blessings." Hymn No. 46 in the Christian Science Hymnal, the words of which begin, "Day by day the manna fell," has likewise encouraged me.

On one occasion a brother, who is not a Christian Scientist, was suffering from pneuminia; he was taken to a hospital and given all the aid the medical profession had to offer, but to no avail. The doctor telephoned at one thirty in the morning and said he was sorry to report that the boy had passed on five minutes before. I asked him what should be done, and he said nothing until later in the morning.

Immediately the thought came to my family and me that a doctor does not have jurisdiction over man's life, because God is Life, ever present and eternal. Prayerful work in Christian Science was kept up for some time, and at five thirty we called the hospital and were told that my brother's life had returned. Within three weeks he was back at his regular activities and gives full credit to prayer for his restoration.
