Christian Science came into...
Christian Science came into my life at a time of great need. I had been working with a large business organization and suddenly was faced with the need to give up my position because of a severe nervous breakdown. I knew nothing of Christian Science except what I had learned of it when I had attended services several times with a friend.
One evening, when I was at my lowest ebb, my mother realized that I must rely on something, since so far I had only rested and read a little from the Bible. She recommended that I try Christian Science, and it seemed suddenly to be the answer. She telephoned a practitioner, who began to pray for me at once. The relief was immediate. The practitioner recommended that I study the Lesson-Sermon, published in the Christian Science Quaterly, which I began to do, and work continued in Christian Science.
The healing took about a year, but during that time a false sense of responsibility was eliminated. It became very clear to me that God is responsible for His own creation and that as idea, man reflects His ability, not the false sense of ability of mortal mind.
