"Train up a child"

In Proverbs we are told (22: 6), "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it."

In considering this statement a Sunday School teacher searched her thought to know what the truths that we should teach the pupils are so that they may demonstrate Christian Science and "not depart from it." She realized that these truths are contained in the Bible and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, but that they must be made so meaningful that the pupils will understand them and want to apply them in their daily lives.

The teacher asked her class for their definition of "demonstrating Christian Science." Their responses were "to use it," "to prove it," "to live it," "to practice it." In response to the question, "Are you learning in Sunday School to demonstrate Christian Science?" they agreed that while they learned the rules, so to speak, in Sunday School, actually demonstrating it had to be done by each one of them individually. Then they saw that we all can use Christian Science; but the degree to which we do so depends, first, upon our understanding of its truths and, next, upon our desire and sincere effort to apply them to our experiences.
