One Priceless Hour
With all the seeming forces acting on a child's thought—his home, his school, his friends, television, and so on—one hour out of a whole week may look very small. Yet one hour is enough to change the life of a Sunday School pupil significantly, not only for one week, but forever.
In my work as an Air Force Chaplain I talked with many young men and women who had had varying degrees of training in a Christian Science Sunday School. Frequently, when I asked a really active student of Christian Science what made him that way, the reply would begin, "Well, there was a teacher I had in Sunday School...." Some of the most firmly grounded of these were youngsters who stood alone, the only Christian Scientists in their families. A number found their way to this religion through attending the Sunday School one Sunday with a friend.
Let us see what we may do to make the hour we teach Sunday-School one that truly awakens. What are the factors that make the difference?
