At one time, while I was serving...
At one time, while I was serving as musician in a Christian Science church, I awakened early one Sunday morning in a state of immobility. All I could do for quite a little while was to lie still and think. After a time I was able to get to a sitting position and found I could read the current Lesson-Sermon, made up of citations from the Bible and from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy which are given in the Quarterly.
Within two hours I was able to rise and dress, although still moving slowly. This sentence from Science and Health came to me (p. 490): "Christian Science reveals Truth and Love as the motive-powers of man." I determined to allow nothing but Truth and Love to govern me. Within a matter of three hours from the time of reading the lesson I was able to leave home and take my place normally in the service, and that was the end of the difficulty.
