My family became students of Christian Science when my mother was healed of heart trouble about 1909. Some years later, through the application of Science, the tender, loving care of our heavenly Father protected some of us and healed others at the time of an influenza epidemic. Years later, I was healed of a stomach disorder that was very painful at times.

Business problems, serious ones, were solved by the application of Truth after a Christian Science practitioner had assured me that we can draw on the bank of divine Love for all our real needs. Desirable sources of supply for business have been found in times of shortage. I was healed of gallstones in one night through the consecrated prayers of a practitioner.

For several years I indulged in smoking and social drinking, believing that these false appetites would not keep me from turning to God or hinder the quick and effective use of my understanding of Christian Science in times of need. Then a friend's loving counsel awakened me to realize that these appetites—so pleasing and seemingly satisfying to material sense—do not belong to man's true identity as an idea of God. I saw that man in reality is already complete and satisfied as a child of God, and this realization healed me of the habits. Later, I was blessed by admittance to membership in The Mother Church. Class instruction in Christian Science and the continuing counsel of my teacher have proved to be additional blessings.
