The opening line of Hymn No. 278...
The opening line of Hymn No. 278 in the Christian Science Hymnal, "Pilgrim on earth, home and heaven are within thee," expresses a truth which has been demonstrated in my experience. My search for a home had been long and disappointing. At last I asked a Christian Science practitioner to help me in finding and establishing one. Prayerful work was begun for me at once, and it was recommended that I ponder this statement of Mrs. Eddy's on page 254 of Science and Health: "Pilgrim on earth, thy home is heaven; stranger, thou art the guest of God.
On waking the following morning I felt that my thought was spiritually illumined, and the words of Mrs. Eddy's poem "Christmas Morn" (Poems, p. 29) came clearly to me. The words of the second stanza assured me of the ever-presence of the Christ, Truth. They read,
