It was not a happy time for our country when I first became acquainted with Christian Science, for it was the invasion year of 1940. My fiance took me with him to a Christian Science service, and I was immediately impressed by the atmosphere there. Later I visited a Christian Science church in another city, and by then I wanted to have a proof that this teaching was the truth.
At that time I had a physical condition which necessitated my taking rest at regular intervals, and I had to take drugs to deaden the pain. One day I went to work without taking the drugs with me. All went well on that day and has done so every day since. I took no more drugs.
After this we experienced the terrors of war, and my fiance was forced to go to another country. His mother, who had studied Christian Science for many years, always sustained me and explained to me the things I did not understand. My own mother could not understand what had occurred, for during my childhood I had always been sickly, and now I became strong and well.
