Erase and Replace
[Of Special Interest to Children]
When the teacher asked who would like to write the answers to the problems in addition on the blackboard, Norma raised her hand promptly. She loved her schoolwork; and she was sure she knew all the sums, because she had studied her practice cards. She quickly wrote down the answers when she was selected to do so.
How embarrassed and ashamed she was when she saw that under the very simple problem, two plus two, she had written a five!
Her classmates started to laugh, and Norma was ready to sit down in dismay when she saw that her schoolteacher was holding out an eraser for her to use. She took the eraser, rubbed out the mistake, and put a four firmly in its place.
