I first became aware of Christian Science in 1914, and five years later I joined The Mother Church and a branch church. In the intervening years Science has been my way of Life, and I have had no resort to the medical profession except for routine life insurance examinations and the vaccination required for an over seas mission for the United States Army.

This is not to say that I have not experienced any discomfort or difficulties. Actually, the physical problems have all been minor ones, thanks to the protection of Christian Science. In over forty years I have not been kept away from my desk more than a total of ten days because of illness. Business problems too have been solved promptly as a result of the application of the truths taught in Science.

At the time this religion was brought to my attention, I was smoking one hundred cigarettes a day, and smoking them completely. One evening a relative, who was a Christian Science practitioner, observed that I did not seem to enjoy smoking and that it was entirely a habit. She inquired if I would like to be healed. I had only a faint notion of what Science really is but readily assented to have Christian Science treatment. Three days later I realized that I was no longer smoking. I had moved in my usual orbit, associating mostly with men who smoked, but I had become wholly oblivious to the habit. The healing has been permanent.
