When I first heard of Christian Science...
When I first heard of Christian Science I was in my late teens and mentally disturbed. I cried a good deal of the time and was not expressing normal activity. On the recommendation of a neighbor I began attending the Sunday services and Wednesday testimony meetings at a nearby Church of Christ, Scientist.
There I became acquainted with a practitioner. She was compassionate and told me of God's love for His children, and she explained that man is always in God's care. I did much studying of the Bible, along with Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. Gradually I became less fearful of my condition and rejoiced in my newfound understanding of God.
Then it was decided that I should seek employment. It took courage for me to do this, but I was learning to trust God, who is Love. I found part-time employment in a store, serving in the toy department. However, when I had to write the names and addresses of my customers my mind would become a blank. My fellow employees were very kind to me, and I would telephone the practitioner during working hours when it seemed necessary.
