WORDS OF CURRENT INTEREST

The Lord will perfect that Which concerneth me (Ps. 138:8)

Hebrew phrases are often highly condensed, and in this instance the words "that which" have been added by the translators. "Perfect" (per-fek't—first e as in maker, second as in end; or pur'fekt—u as in urn, e as in end) is translated from the verb gamar, which means more strictly "end; complete; accomplish: fulfill," while the term rendered "concerneth me" means "on my account" or "on my behalf." Hence one could translate, "The Lord will bring fulfillment on my behalf."
