My gratitude is very deep for...

My gratitude is very deep for the many opportunities I have had to witness the present, practical healing power of the truth of God and man. Over a period of years the application of this truth, revealed to us in Christian Science by Mrs. Eddy, has enabled me to overcome many difficulties, including those concerning supply, employment, relationships with others, diseases, functional disturbances, accidents, and a dread of deep water. These experiences have proved to me that a recognition and acceptance of the real nature of God and His creation, the only creation there is, can solve problems of every kind.

Recently I have again had occasion to be grateful for a convincing proof of man's freedom from the so-called laws of physicality. My wife and I had gone one Sunday afternoon to the seashore to bring back sand for our garden. Suddenly I felt a sharp pain in my back. The truths immediately came to me that man's real activity is spiritual, that he can suffer no penalty for it, and that he is rightly controlled by God in all such activity.

My wife drove the car home, and a Christian Science practitioner was promptly called for help through prayer. That night and the following day I was in pain and hardly able to move. But the practitioner continued her work, and I prayed to understand more clearly the truths she had discussed with me, including the following passages from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy: "Experiments have favored the fact that Mind governs the body, not in one instance, but in every instance" (p. 162), and "Ossification or any abnormal condition or derangement of the body is as directly the action of mortal mind as is dementia or insanity. Bones have only the substance of thought which forms them" (p 423).
