When I was a young child, my mother used to say, "Count your blessings." It was not until after I became a student of Christian Science, about ten years ago, that I began to do so. I remember well the loving atmosphere I sensed when I walked into a branch church for the first time, and the gratitude I felt that God had led me to share in this wonderful religion.

I was a very heavy smoker at the time, and I had a great desire to be healed of the habit so that I could become a member of the Church of Christ, Scientist, but I did not seem able to give it up.

Shortly after this I developed a poisoned hand, and after a day or so my whole arm became affected. I was afraid that I would have to go to a doctor, although I badly wanted to work out the problem without resorting to medical aid. On the following Sunday I spoke to a Christian Science practitioner about this, and he was soon able to banish the fear I felt.
