Mrs. Eddy says on page 63 of Science and Health: "In Science man is the offspring of Spirit. The beautiful, good, and pure constitute his ancestry."

For about ten years I suffered with a palsied condition of the hands and arms, and I thought it was an inherited difficulty. A grandmother had manifested this same condition for many years, and I had observed it when I was nine years of age and lived in an aunt's home in which my grandmother also lived.

This condition appeared in my experience, but I felt no fear, because I thought I understood the nothingness of the belief in human heredity, knowing that God, man's Father-Mother, made him spiritual and perfect. I read and studied daily, but saw no improvement. In fact, the condition grew alarmingly worse. I was embarrassed and disappointed. I had had much help from practitioners, and I felt I had been consistent and persistent in my own prayerful metaphysical work.
