Effective and Helpful Advertising

"The healing and enlightening experiences in our Reading Room, resulting from the 1960 program for co-operative advertising in the daily newspapers, make us realize that its effect is more far-reaching than can be measured," writes a librarian. "We are grateful," she continues, "for this advertising plan which brings the Christian Science textbook, 'Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures' by Mary Baker Eddy, as well as the Christian Science Reading Rooms in this field, to the attention of the public.

"A man who had seen the newspaper advertisement entitled 'How Can I Learn to Pray?' came to borrow a copy of Science and Health in order to investigate what Christian Science teaches about prayer. Through reading the textbook, his interest was greatly aroused, and he returned later to purchase some of the Christian Science periodicals and the Manual of The Mother Church by Mrs. Eddy. The good flowing into his experience had so impressed his friends, who at first were a little skeptical of his studying Christian Science, that they were now asking him questions about this religion and showing real interest in his progress.

"Another visitor, after noting the information about the radio and television programs entitled 'How Christian Science Heals' and reading the newspaper advertisements, decided to visit our Reading Room. She was indeed ready to study and eager to read the Lesson-Sermon, outlined in the Christian Science Quarterly, for the week. It was a joy to answer her questions and to witness her receptivity to Truth."
