The belief that life is mortal, with a beginning and an end, is a great fear that besets human existence and is a major source of disease, lack, and decrepitude. The belief that disease can end life aggravates disease. The belief that supply can end, that one can be in want, and that one cannot escape age, which draws one closer to the end of earthly existence—these are the basic fears that only the promise and understanding of God, eternal Life, can still.
