My maternal grandmother was the first of our family to take up the study of Christian Science. She lived in our home when I was a child, and I learned many spiritual truths from her even before starting to attend a Christian Science Sunday School at the age of four years.

My parents never became Scientists, but they were convinced of the healing power of God and, through the help of practitioners, experienced several healings. With their approval, I enjoyed the blessings of the Sunday School into my college days and joined The Mother Church while I was in high school. I recall being healed by Christian Science treatment of food poisoning and influenza during my childhood.

My son started attendance at Sunday School at the age of three and continued in regular attendance until he reached the age of twenty. During this time, when very young, he was healed of the effects of a serious fall. Upon graduation from high school, he was commended for not being absent during the entire four-year course.
