About twenty years ago I was suffering from periodic stomach cramps. A doctor told me I had chronic appendicitis and recommended an immediate operation before the condition became acute, particularly since this could occur on one of my frequent business trips. However, I did not follow his advice; but instead took up the study of Christian Science, and I was completely healed.
Fear of catching colds has been considerably lessened, and if I do have one, it is usually healed overnight. Previously the colds used to hang on or develop into something more serious.
I used to be quite resentful when I awakened from sleep during the night until I learned in Christian Science that "the consciousness of Truth rests us more than hours of repose in unconsciousness" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 218). As a result I became appreciative of the quiet hours at night when I was not asleep because they afforded me undisturbed opportunities to think prayerfully.
