When Christian Science found...
When Christian Science found me in 1904 I was suffering from consumption of the lungs. The doctors admitted they could not cure me, but they thought a change of climate might lengthen my days.
My husband was putting his business in order so that he could take me to another state when a friend of my father's came to our house. He told us that I did not need to go to another climate for relief and that he had a book in his suitcase that would heal me, if I would read it.
This man had just returned from a city in which he had experienced a healing of paralysis. I thought it was absurd for him to say that reading a book could heal me, but my mother said: "Look at him. He can walk now, and you know when he went away he could not." Mother had always believed in divine healing. Many times I had heard her ask her minister why the church did not heal the sick as Jesus did. The reply usually was this: "Healing was for Jesus' time."
