A copy of the Christian Science...

A copy of the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, was given to my husband by one of his clients. He brought the book home, and it was put in the bookcase, where it lay for quite a while. One day on cleaning the shelves, I came across it, and opening to the chapter entitled "Some Objections Answered," I read the following (p. 34): "In Christian Science mere opinion is valueless. Proof is essential to a due estimate of this subject. Sneers at the application of the word Science to Christianity cannot prevent that from being scientific which is based on divine Principle, demonstrated according to a divine given rule, and subjected to proof."

Here was something for me to think about—proof, proof of the validity of a religion! We had been searching for a satisfactory way of life which would help us to bring up our two sons.

Shortly after reading this from Science and Health, I was invited by a friend to attend a Wednesday testimony meeting in a branch Church of Christ, Scientist. At this meeting a man arose and told how his little boy was healed of measles after the father had realized the allness of God and the perfection of man, made in His likeness.
