In 1945 at Brugge, Belgium, I was led to Christian Science. At a military hospital the doctors had downgraded me because of a so-called incurable bladder trouble. I felt that with God's help I could be cured, and within a week I had the glorious opportunity to study in the Christian Science Rest Center located in Brugge. I was so uplifted spiritually that I was cured of the smoking habit within days of reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy for the first time.

When I was posted to two other camps, Rest Centers in which I could study were present in nearby towns. In fact, for a period of nine months I was able to travel to a center from the camp every night, although the distance was nine kilometers and only one bus was available for the transportation needs of one thousand men.

After three years, and through my reliance upon and understanding of divine Mind, I was able to prove wrong the medical pronouncement of incurability, for I was completely healed of the complaint.
