I am grateful that I was able to receive a firm foundation in Christian Science in the Sunday School, which I attended from infancy. It was a wonderful experience to join The Mother Church when I was in my teens. At an early age, I married a Christian Scientist, and we moved from the East Coast to the West Coast. I received from attendance at Sunday School there spiritual strength, which helped me to adjust myself to my new environment. I continued attending Sunday School until I was twenty.

Through the study and application of Science, I have received guidance and protection during traveling, found employment in the field for which I was trained, and been healed of extreme mental depression. At one time a skin irritation developed which spread until it covered both my legs from the knees down. My own prayers and study did not prove effective in healing the condition; so I asked a Christian Science practitioner to help me. She invited me to study the definition of "oil," given by Mrs. Eddy in Science and Health (p. 592). It reads, "Consecration; charity; gentleness; prayer; heavenly inspiration." She also reminded me that "a spiritual idea has not a single element of error, and this truth removes properly whatever is offensive" (ibid., p. 463).

I refused to look at my legs for a physical change but continued to grow in my understanding that Mind is infinite and supreme and that matter has no intelligence, sensation, or power. During this period my consciousness became so uplifted by heavenly inspiration that much progress was made. As this prayerful work continued I forgot about the disease. Then one day I remembered the difficulty and realized with gratitude I was completely free. This experience took place over two years ago, and the healing has been permanent.
