WORDS OF CURRENT INTEREST

[The words in this issue are related to the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly designated to be read in Christian Science churches on September 18, 1960.]

"Take ... thought" (Luke 12:22)

The Greek verb is derived directly from the noun merimna, meaning care, worry, anxiety. Hence Jesus' warning is not against thoughtful preparation but against troubled anxious thought or worry.
