The first instance of Christian Science...
The first instance of Christian Science healing I remember clearly was that of several warts on my hands when I was a small child. When I spoke of them to my grandmother, she said, "You know they do not belong to God's child!" Without hesitation I went into a room alone and prayed. The next day at play I noticed the warts had vanished.
During World War II my husband was in the Army Air Corps, and I joined him wherever he was stationed. Although the housing shortage was acute, we always found a suitable place almost immediately. I kept in mind the quotation from Exodus (23:20), "I send an Angel before thee, ... to bring thee into the place which I have prepared."
One city where my husband was to be stationed was always crowded with tourists. Navy and Army personnel, many of whom had their families with them, were also there attempting to find housing-. The first place my husband looked at was adequate, and we took it; but after a while his hours were changed, and we could not get breakfast without disturbing others. One day I mentioned this to the Christian Science Reading Room attendant where I often studied the Lesson-Sermon given in the Quarterly.
