Church Members Awaken to Action
We read in "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" by Mary Baker Eddy, "Beloved Brethren:—May this glad Easter morn find the members of this dear church having a pure peace, a fresh joy, a clear vision of heaven here,—heaven within us,—and an awakened sense of the risen Christ" (p. 155). When thought is lifted thus, we are ready to be of greater service to mankind, and church work affords new and countless opportunities for growth and progress.
A church in the Middle Western United States writes of its successful work in securing a fuller co-operation from members:
"The need for better attendance at church services and business meetings and for more active participation in church work was given prayerful attention during the past year. The form letter that had previously been used to communicate with members who had not regularly attended was discarded. Humbly and with earnest desire to reach these loved ones, the board composed and sent a new letter. The response was immediate.
