BE OF GOOD COURAGE
Be
of good courage. When the way is long,
Courage will shorten it. Courage is swift and firm;
Dwells not with dreams, but stands on what it knows,
And in besiegement by a thousand foes
Lifts heart and voice in song.
Courage is strong.
Courage is born of loving God supremely,
Knowing Him omnipresent and all-power.
Courage is girt with humbleness. Serenely
It waits the daylight in the darkest hour.
Knowing the inevitability of dawn,
Courage is not cast down.
Courage is self-oblivious and active,
Shining through all the darkness of the dream;
To glorify the Father is its motive,
By proving that things are not what they seem.
Courage lays hold upon the facts of Soul,
Removes the veil, reveals man whole.
Be of good courage. Who knows how the light
You tend so faithfully may penetrate
The private anguish of another's night,
And all his sad confusion dissipate?
There's hope in every brother's victory won—
And so, press on!
