I was given a fundamental knowledge of Christian Science by my mother, who faithfully followed its teachings for forty years. But when I married, I went to live in a community where there was no Christian Science church or society. I joined the Protestant church of which my husband was a member and worked in it for several years. However, when I was confronted with the problems of rearing my family, I found that it was my knowledge of Christian Science which helped me.

Eventually I was so torn by the realization that I was living one thing and believing another that I became disturbed. This resulted in a series of allergies, for which I submitted to all the known material remedies without success.

After being unable to breathe through my nose or to smell anything at all for six years, I finally got relief by discarding all material remedies and applying the truths which I remembered from my training as a child.
