Activities for the Armed Services

World-wide distribution of Christian Science literature in military installations and Veterans Hospitals is carried on by Christian Science Activities for the Armed Services, a department of The Mother Church. Christian Science Chaplains, Ministers, and Representatives, the field workers of this department who do most of the distribution work, function in thirty-four countries.

The purpose of this activity is to make the writings of Mary Baker Eddy, Christian Science periodicals and pamphlets, and other authorized works on Christian Science available to service personnel and hospitalized veterans. Generally, literature is placed in military chapels, libraries, officers' clubs, service clubs, and Chaplains' offices. Service Edition sets of the Bible and of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy are given free of charge to Christian Scientists in the Armed Forces.

The field workers usually carry literature with them while visiting service personnel and hospitalized veterans and when conducting Christian Science services. On these occasions they dispense literature to those desiring it.
