"TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE"

"Time is of the essence" is a frequently used phrase, both in legal contracts and in day-to-day discussion. Businessmen and businesswomen find themselves contending with time and sometimes limited by it. They are early or late for an appointment; they have too little time to accomplish much work; deadlines become imperative because of delays.

A close study of the Bible discloses that Christ Jesus, the Way-shower, was seldom, if ever, much concerned about time. He was about his Father's business at an early age and continued to accomplish many wonderful works among the people. In fact, the duration of Jesus' earthly career can scarcely be measured except in terms of the good that he accomplished.

Practical and scientific Christians today can follow Jesus' example and let their days and hours be marked by the good which is unfolded or expressed in their experience and the experience of their fellows. In Genesis we read that creation was accomplished in six days or periods. Each period of unfoldment brought to perception additional realities of the creation. These periods denote not the passage of solar time but the ever-increasing unfoldment of good to mankind.
