DECISIVE ACTION
When Jehu drove furiously into Jezreel with his company behind him, he was impelled by a God-given mission to destroy the house of Ahab and the worship of Baal in Israel. From the moment Elisha anointed him to be king, he moved swiftly and decisively to that end.
Jehu was a man of action. In his early history he appears in the Bible narrative as a redemptive influence in Israel, although in later years he lamentably fell from grace.
The narrative in Chapters 9 and 10 in 11 Kings illustrates the value of swift decision in dealing with evil and the importance of making no compromise with it. Here we see an example of how evil is destroyed with finality, and we can learn much from the decisive way Jehu handled it on this occasion.
